Live Like You’re Dying. (It’s Urgent.)

Live like you’re dying.

An overused expression. Probably.
Cliché too, I know.

Regardless, it’s also a phrase that deserves more than just lip service.

I was told a story yesterday. My aunt has a niece-through-marriage who is dying of cancer. She’s 26. A few months ago she made a most courageous decision to forego treatment over quality of life when her cancer came back—and she’s spent the time since fulfilling her bucket list.

It’s heartbreaking. Awful. Completely unfair. Yet difficult as it is, her story stands as a none-too-subtle reminder for the rest of us: Don’t wait to start living your life.

Bucket list or no, don’t wait until you have a terminal illness…or you’re at the perfect weight…or your finances are bullet-proof…or you have the right degree and experience…or your 2.5 kids are in college…or you’re retired…or you’ve finally surpassed the Jones’ with your money, job, house, and car…or until the sun, moon & stars align.

Or any of the other ridiculous excuses we allow to run our life. Always wanting, chasing, preparing, or dreaming—but never actually doing. Never actually LIVING.

Your life is happening NOW.

Prioritize your life so that you spend your time, energy, and resources creating & living a life full of meaning and Purpose.

Live simply + fearlessly in that way.

Know that what we worry about most really doesn’t matter all that much. What does matter is love, service, kindness, and generosity.

Go LIVE your life. Full out. And like you mean it.

P.S. >> If you don’t know what “living full out” means, spend some time figuring it out. (Yes, it’s really THAT important.) Not so many years ago, I didn’t have a clue what “living full out” meant in my life. It had never occurred to me to think about it! In the time since, I’ve come to know that I’m not the only one who’s ever been in that boat, and it’s something that a lot of us never take time to do. With that in mind, I created a self-reflection tool that’s perfect for the beginners out there—and it’s also dynamite for those of you who want to dig deeper into what full out living looks like in your life.

Click here to download it (a gift from me to you): Full Out Living. [De]Ciphered.

As you work through the tool, notice what comes up for you. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
